It’s Carnival time in Trinidad and Tobago

My father was from Cascade in Trinidad. We lived in Point Fortin and every carnival we spent it in Port-of-Spain. I used to be scared of many of the masqueraders, but the midnight robbers, moko jumbie, Jab jab and the jab molassi were the scariest.
This morning we were talking about carnival and I was saying that I did not like to hear the Midnight Robbers. Every time someone pays the midnight robber he used to give a speech.
My husband said, “Yes. They used to say something like this, “I am Santana your angel of death. My job on the face of this earth is to check up on the dead and hurry up on the living because when people die by natural causes they take too long.”
“True and that used to be creepy.”
