I used to say that I would
retire from writing then I read an excerpt of one of Maya Angelou’s interviews…
She said that she has no
plans to retire. She used to teach at Wake Forest University. Composed a poem for the
Summer Olympics, was working on a collection of essays and hosts a weekly
satellite radio show on the Oprah & Friends channel. After reading her interview I
laugh at myself for saying that I would retire from writing at 75. How could
you retire if your mind is flowing with thoughts and ideas of a story.
