I stood listening to her outlandish remarks, and I was dumbfounded. For the first time in my life, I could not think of a good come back. My face was becoming flushed as I was being lambasted. When she realized that I wasn’t saying anything, she started to perform a little more. I was at the breaking point. Enough was enough. I put up my hand and said, “Silence!”
She became quiet then there were hands clapping. I didn’t even notice that many people had gathered around us. An elderly woman said, “Finally, you shut her up. I wanted to slap her. Is she related to you?”
“We used to be friends.”
