“2013 Was”

It has been a wonderful journey with you, in 2013 ~ We had sad and serious moments, but it was good. The best part of 2013 were the funny moments~ Yes real laughter at the point of hysterical moments… that was just heavenly~ I loved it and I love you all.

It is already 2014 in many countries, but it is hours away from this part of the globe. I wish that you laugh more~ Cry less~ Be successful~ Be truthful~ Be kind~ Be happy~ Be lovers of life~ Hold on to love, kindness and happiness~ Don’t let it slip away~ Pay attention to intuition…

“The Eve Of New Year’s Eve”

On this beautiful Monday the Eve of New Year's Eve, I am singing one of my favorite songs and thanking God for making me see another day.
Don’t spend time regretting what you did, or what you didn’t do, or what you should have done. Do not cry over spilled milk. Focus on what you could do to fix it and fix it. ‘You’ve only got one life to live’.
Lou Rawls - One Life To Live
You’ve only got one life to live~ So live it in peace~ Live it in truth~ Live it in love~
Why don’t you live each day like it’s your last one? You take control of your emotions, all your doubts and your fears. And just to laugh at the world and all its sadness and replace joy for those salty bitter tears.
Cause you’ve got one life to live, so give it your all, give it a lot, give it your best shot. And then you greet, every day with a little love in your heart. You go and do all the things you desire, all the things you dream of. Because today is the beginning of a brand new life, you have to fail sometimes in order for you to succeed.
You’ve got one life to live~ So live it in peace~ Live it in truth~ Live it in love.
If you’re feeling down and out let’s sing~ If you’re sad I’ll make you laugh~ And if you become pumped with too much pride, remember that everything, everything must pass.
You’ve only got one life to live~ So live it in peace~ Live it in truth~ Live it in love~
You’ve got one life to live~ So give it your all~ Give it a lot~ Give it your best shot~
I said you’ve got one life to live~ So live it in peace~ Live it in truth~ Why don’t you live it in love~
I said you’ve got one life that’s all you get so you better make the best of it~
You’ve got one life that’s all you got~ So be sure that you make it a lot~
And just remember what goes around it comes around~ So be sure when you turn it loose it’s what you want to come down.
You’ve got one life that’s all you’ve got.
You’ve got one life that’s all you get so give it your best, just give it a lot. Why don’t you give it your best shot?
You’ve got one life that’s all you get. You better greet each day with a brand you new shot~

“My Christmas Story”

A family friend and his son was going to baptize one Christmas Day and he invited us. Although we did not go to the same church and had the same religious views, we decided to go. After attending our church service we went to our friends' baptismal service. When the service was over, I presented him and his son with a book each —The Gospel of St. Thomas and The Pilgrim's Progress. Days later our friend phoned me and said, “The book you gave me ‘The Gospel Of St. Thomas, is not for me. It is against my religious views. I do not agree with any Catholic values. I am upset that you choose to give me a gift like that.”
While he was speaking I was thinking that I should say, ‘Ignorance is bliss to a fool’, but I said, “Did you read it?”
“No I did not.” He went on insulting me. “You Catholics worship idols, eat pork and worship on a Sunday. I hope you did not give my son the same book.”
I hung up the phone and when I told my husband he simply said, “Do you remember your favorite verse from the Bible?”
“Yes Proverb 18:2 ‘The fool takes no delight in understanding, but rather in displaying what he thinks',” I said.
“Okay so you know what I have been saying about him is true. He is a jackass!”
As time went by we ignored that character until he turned up at our home, one Christmas morning. We had just sat down to have breakfast —Pig-trotters souse, ham, scrambled eggs etc., When I heard his voice, I was hoping my husband did not invite this fool to join us, but knowing the kind of man he was, hoping for that would not happen. Our friend pulled out a chair and sat at the table. The moment I got him a plate, cup, glass etc., he took up the bowl of Pig-trotters souse and started to dish out some onto his plate. I looked at my husband with my eyes wide open. He smiled, shook his head for me not to say anything., but I said, “That is Pig-trotters souse!”
“I know,” said the fool and he continued dishing out.
I looked at my husband and mouthed out, “Hypocrite.”…

Life is what you make it.

Time waits on no man and it is zooming by~ 2013 is coming to an end~ What can I say about 2013… hmm~ For me the heartache was tearful~ The laughter was hysterical~ The fears were astounding~ I thank God for giving me the Strength and courage to face it all…

“Follow Your Bliss”

Go where your body and soul want to go. When you have the feeling, then stay with it, and don’t let anyone throw you off.
Follow your bliss and don’t be afraid, and doors will open where you didn’t know they were going to be. (The Power Of Myth) Joseph Campbell (1904-1987)

Happy Boxing Day~ NO DRINKING AND DRIVING AND OR ROAD RAGE~ Enjoy and be safe~

“Drinking Driving Road Rage”

Make this a HAPPY, SAFE AND ENJOYABLE CHRISTMAS~ KWANZAA~ HANUKKAH. Don’t let those two enemies over take your existence –DRINKING AND DRIVING AND OR ROAD RAGE. Before you succumb to these two evils think about the people you love and the people who love you…
TO YOU, AND YOURS, Have a HAPPY, SAFE AND ENJOYABLE CHRISTMAS~ KWANZAA~, HANUKKAH…

“Oh Trinbagonians”
You astonish me by your calm demeanor. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL PEOPLE START TO GET SICK AND DIE FROM THE TOXIC AIR… You know get CANCER ETC.
In my 53 years on this earth, I lived in Point Fortin, Trinidad and Tobago for 29 years. A true Trinbagonians, knows that Point Fortin is one of our main petroleum towns. In those 29 years living in Trinbago, I have see oil spills but the amount of oil I saw washed up on the sea shore was little droplets of pitch. The amount could fill a white pigtail bucket. The spill that I am reading daily about on the Express is a DISASTER! I wonder how Trinbagonians could be so calm about it.
Trinbagonians have cell phones more than one… Some have 3 and 4 cell phones. How the hell none of you cannot snap pictures of this massive oil spill and flood the internet with it! Especially FB! It is time to be outraged! DO NOT WAIT UNTIL PEOPLE START TO DIE FROM THE TOXIC AIR…

“A Little MERCY This CHRISTMAS”

Compassion~ Pity~ Clemency~ Kindness~ Sympathy~ Understanding~ Leniency~ Humanity~ FORGIVENESS! However you want to say it, it means MERCY!
Like I said and have been saying, Yes you are upset that your child/children did something you deem unforgivable, yet you call yourself a Christian… hmm.
We win by tenderness. We conquer by forgiveness.Frederick William Robertson (1816 -1853)
“On Christmas morning give your child/Children the gift/gifts you have for them and make it a Merry Christmas for you all. A little MERCY goes a long way…

“I Wish You”

So you told your child/children not to do a particular thing. 1~ 2~ 3~ 4 or it felt like you told them not to do it 10 or more times. Now you are livid! You are so furious that you decide that you have to punish them.
Before you inflict hurt think about the amount of times your child/children ask you for something that you have… You know, the thing that is readily available and you said, ‘NO!’
I wish you and yours… Love~ Peace~ Joy and a sentimental moment.

“Sentimental ”

I believe you can get away with being; over-romantic~ sappy~ syrupy~ Just down right sentimental ~ At this time of the year, regardless at what you are faced with, just for a moment, try a bit of corniness…

“2013”

If I made you sad this year~ I was sad too~
If I made you cry this year~ I cried too~
If I made you smile this year~ I smiled too~
But if I made you laugh this year~ I was hysterical~
I hope we get more hysterical than ever in 2014…

“Mother Father Caregiver”

Magnanimity~ Great generosity!
Openhandedness~ Kindness!
Thoughtful~ Considerate!
Humanity~ Compassionate!
Empathy~ Understanding!
Responsible~ Accountable
This is who you are and take it on full-blast. At this joyous time of the year do not be so angry with your child/children because of that failing grade, that situation which might have caused a suspension etc. This is the point where you have to let EGO go. Sit quietly and think about the moment you went wrong in your child/children’s lives. That moment when you were not generous, did not show kindness, was not considerate, compassionate, understanding. Hold yourself accountable for a moment, and then in that quiet moment ask God to help you fix it all.
Another point; Yes you are angry with your child/children and you have decided not to give them the gift that you already purchased or were going to buy. Think carefully about your child/children and the one or two or more moments of generosity, kindness, considerate, compassionate, understanding, accountable moments that they bestowed on you.
On Christmas morning, give your child/children the gift/gifts and make it a Merry Christmas for you all…

“Know When To Shut Up”

It was Christmas season and his wife showed him some items she bought. He felt that some of it was not necessary and he mentioned it. She became irate and they argued … He kept insisting that the money spent was wasted … She eventually got very quiet. He knew that he should shut up, but he continued.
Every morning he took her and the kids to work and school, and that morning she sat quietly in the car. The children were both arguing and she did not say anything to them. When he dropped her off she did not do her usual goodbye (‘Bye guys~ Love you so much~ Have a nice day~ See you later would be followed by kisses). That morning she said, “Bye guys~ Love you so much.” Got out of the car and walked away.
His son said, “What’s wrong with mom?”
“Dad quarreled about his money,” said his daughter.
“It’s not my money … It’s your mother’s and mines.”
“You did not act like it was hers.”
He was thinking that his daughter was right … What the hell have I done? Why was I being such an ass?...

“Do Not Be Offended”

If someone compliment or just say something worthwhile to you, even if you do not like him/her do not be offended. Just say thank you and move on to the next chapter.
A wonderful safe day to you and yours…

“Quotes To Think About”

Sometimes negative news does come out, but it is often exaggerated and manipulated to spread scandal. Journalists sometimes risk becoming ill from coprophilia and thus fomenting coprophagia: which is a sin that taints all men and women, that is, the tendency to focus on the negative rather than the positive aspects. — Pope Francis

In our ecclesiastical region there are priests who don't baptize the children of single mothers because they weren't conceived in the sanctity of marriage. These are today's hypocrites. Those who clericalize the church. Those who separate the people of God from salvation.— Pope Francis

“Icy Morning”

The roads and sidewalks are icy*** I know school children love it. You could see them leaving a dry spots on the road/sidewalk and skating on the icy spots. Have that little moment of fun but be very careful.
Many of us were told to stop looking down, walk with your head up. I say walk with your head down and if it looks wet and shiny it is ice. I wish you a blessed safe drive/walk...

“Blocking Another Person’s Blessing”

An elderly friend taught me something of worth. I was doing something for her daily. To me it was no big thing. I did it with love and I was enjoying doing it. To her it was a great service and she wanted to bless me. She bought me a great amount of something that I like. I was happy to get the item, but I felt it was too much and I told her to keep some of it. She looked at me, said “hmm,” and shook her head. Although she did this I still kept saying it was too much. She said in the most calm tone, “Alli, when you give from the heart blessings flow and this gift is for you. When someone give your something, just say thank you and take it. If you refuse it you are blocking their blessing. Do not block my blessing…

“Blocking Your Blessing”

If you can help ~ HELP! Do not help then start complaining that people always want you to help them. Complaining is going to block your blessings…

“God Horse”

The theatrical picture of the insect that is staring at you with googly eyes was taken by my nephew — David Steffan Huggins.
Trinbagonians call this insect a God Horse. The scientific name Praying Mantis or Stick Insect.
Correction.
My son pointed out some facts about this insects to me and it is not a Praying Mantis. It is an Assassin Bug~ A blood sucking insect.Photo: Guilty: The face of a praying mantis.. something I'd not seen before just now..

 I see you~ I wonder~ Do you see me~ Allison Valentine Joseph

“I Love Tuesdays”

It is cold and snowing on this beautiful Tuesday. I cannot complain and won’t complain because my family and I woke up this morning. I hope you and yours have all the necessary equipments to face the weather~ I hope today is a better day for you than yesterday~ Have a blessed safe day…

“My Winter Tale”

My first winter was in 1982. I loved the snow and how beautiful and pristine the place looked. All the trees looked dead without their leaves, so I was a little sad about that. My first blizzard experience dropped endless snow. Days later, ice rain and the temperature dropped. All the trees were glittering like crystals and icicles were hanging from the branches. The sun was shining and the area looked immaculate… I loved it. I met some people who lived here all their lives and they were complaining about the weather. They were all saying that they needed to see their therapist because they were depressed. I couldn’t understand how this scenic place with such a beautiful tranquil aura could depress anyone. When I left them, I whispered, “Crazy people~ absolutely nuts. This place looks beautiful.”
It did not take long for me to get into their mood. After my third blizzard experience, I was weary. When my children were babies, I was frustrated with dressing them and myself in coats, boots, gloves and hats. The sun would be shining brightly and the temperature would be in the single digits or minus. There was a snowstorm every week dumping, snow on top of snow. Just looking out and seeing most of every thing white, depressed me. The cold, dreary, dismal days felt as though the weather was working against me. A week later, the snow started to melt. Some of the snow looked dirty and that disgusted me. One day while I was about to cross the street, I suddenly started slipping and sliding so I tried my best to brake the fall, but couldn’t so I just hit the ground~ that upset me. I fell on a big area of black ice and couldn’t stand. I had to slide on my butt to one side of the street to get to grass~ that embarrassed me. If I continue writing, my winter tale would be a book. What great therapy to blog about it…

“Oh Monday”

It is slippery in some places because some of the areas were not cleaned~ Salt was not sprinkled on the snow/ice. So slip and slide is going on. It is still Fall, but snow is expected tomorrow morning. This weather is behaving like what I have experienced in the early 90s.
Oh Monday is here and  all I can say is~ Thank you God for making me say another day. Thank you God for everything…

Sunday, December 15, 2013.
One year ago today, my favorite brother —Reynold Huggins passed away. I pray that his travel home was a safe and trouble free one. R.I.P Reynold.

R.I.P Nelson Madiba Mandela. (1918-2013)
Nelson Madiba Mandela, South Africa’s first black president, was buried today.

“Be Careful Outside~ Black Ice”

When I woke up this morning at 5:00AM and I looked through the window, the ground had a glow. I knew that this was a sign that the area was a skating rink~ Black ice. No cars were driving on the street~ No one walking on the sidewalk. An hour later the clean up started and the salt sprinkled. Thirty minutes later ice melted and people were walking~ No slipping and sliding on my street. Thanks to all the Landlords, building Supers, etc… For all of you who have to be out in this kind of weather, be very careful. A wonderful safe day to you and yours.

“The Sweet Taste Of Heaven”

The man, woman you love/loved did not treat you right so you make your children pay for his/her sins. Most of you bitter people call yourselves, followers of Christ. Christ teaches forgiveness, but you teach your children to be as bitter as you. Your bitterness is going to ooze down from generation to generation, unless your offsprings break the chain of bitterness.
Love, Kindness and Happiness brings fear into their hearts so they heave hatred and wickedness, leaving their victim in despair.
Let go of the burden~ That heavy load of bitterness~
Do not be afraid of love, kindness and happiness~
Relax when bliss comes your way~ You will taste how sweet heaven is…

“A Stormy Saturday”

Flurries are falling now, but heavy snow is coming then ice later tonight… Slip and slide is suppose to take place tomorrow. LORD have mercy on those of you who have to be out in it.
On this beautiful Saturday, I wish you a blessed safe day…

“It Is Awful”

I get upset when I see videos of children dancing in a vulgar way… Gyrating in the most seductive way. This is not funny. There are so many child molesters, pedophile, perverts lurking around children. Please stop posting videos like these. It is not right! It is AWFUL!…

“Do Not Deny Santa”

It just pisses me off when I hear people say to their children in a loud arrogant tone so that everyone around could hear, “THERE IS NO SANTA! HE DOES NOT EXIST! I BUY YOUR GIFTS!” If you want to tell your child that it is your prerogative, you don’t have to tell the other children around.
Give me a freaking break. Most of us as children were told that Santa is coming to town and he is bringing our gifts if we are nice. If we are naughty, he is not bringing anything for us. Somewhere in your mind you were not sure that there is a Santa, but you played along. It gave you a jolly feeling. When your parents asked you what you want for Christmas, girls wanted a doll and tea-set … Boys a gun and sack. When you got up Christmas morning and you see the gifts under the Christmas tree, you knew that Santa came.
Girls would be excited to play with their dolls and tea-set. Boys would be wearing their gun and sack … calling themselves Billy the Kid or Pat Garett—(Was the Sheriff. He killed Billy the Kid).
My husband said he remembered dressing in his gun and sack as Billy The Kid. As he stepped outside, there was a sign nailed to a tree. BILLY THE KID! WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE!… He had to hide because Sheriff Garett was tracking him. After the shoot-out, they would talk about what else Santa brought them.
Let children hold on to their innocence as long as possible. They already have to deal with the treacherous situations that are lurking around. Nowhere is safe today, so why take away the one innocent joyous moment they may have. I say do not deny SANTA. He is harmless...

“It Is Cold”

We always say, “It is hot like hell”~ When we say that my son says, “No. Hell is cold.”
My heart goes out to those who spend their days and nights in this beastly cold weather.
So for all the landlords who are in their warm toasty homes and have their tenants in brutally cold homes, as the saying goes, ‘What goes around comes around’ ~ ‘The measure you give is the measure you are going to receive’~ If karma doesn’t hit you here, be sure you will experience her in hell…

“I Really Don’t Know”

A hot drink since I know myself, is what I have with my meal for breakfast. My husband and children would get a plate of what I prepare for breakfast then they would go into the refrigerator, take out the cold water and pour a glass full. They would sometime add ice to the cold water. I am always amazed how they could drink ice cold water with their meal for breakfast then go outside in the cold. Today the temperature is 24ºFahrenheit and it feels like it is in the single digits…

“Fraternity Is A No No”

A 19 year old Baruch College freshman, died during a fraternity hazing incident last weekend, in Pennsylvania.
I am sure many pledges from many colleges have been or are going through, some kind of horrible hazing situations. In most cases they suck it up and don’t say a damn thing about it.
My son is in college and my daughter is doing early college. Her classes are just two days a week so she is not in the fraternity pledging part of college... If she was she knows that Fraternity Pledging is a NO! NO! My son also knows his father and my opinion about joining a fraternity —We are not spending our money for you to be emasculated or killed!..

I can do it~ Yes I can~

“Blissful Moment”

There is a place you love the most in your home~
It is relaxing~
You feel safe~
Bliss transcends through your entire being when you come into this place~
You whisper your private thoughts in this place~
The walls holds your secrets
Find your place~
Enjoy the blissful moment…

I love these words — You have everything you need~ If you just believe.

Believe - Josh Groban
Children sleeping, snow is softly falling~ Dreams are calling like bells in the distance~ We were dreamers not so long ago~ But one by one we all had to grow up~ When it seems the magic’s slipped away~ We find it all again on Christmas day.
Believe in what your heart is saying~ Hear the melody that’s playing~ There’s no time to waste~ There’s so much to celebrate~ Believe in what you feel inside~ And give your dreams the wings to fly~ You have everything you need~ If you just believe.
Trains move quickly to their journey’s end~ Destinations are where we begin again~ Ships go sailing far across the sea~ Trusting starlight to get where they need to be~ When it seems that we have lost our way~ We find ourselves again on Christmas day.
Believe in what your heart is saying~ Hear the melody that’s playing~ There’s no time to waste~ There’s so much to celebrate~ Believe in what you feel inside~ And give your dreams the wings to fly~ You have everything you need~ If you just believe.

“I Believe You Can”

If it is an honest to goodness want~ I believe as Jimmy Cliff  says …
You can get it if you really want~ You can get it if you really want~ You can get it if you really want~ But you must try~ Try and try~ Try and try~ You’ll succeed at last~
Persecution you must bear~ Win or lose you’ve got to get your share~ Got your mind set on a dream~ You can get it, though harder them seem now.
Rome was not built in a day~ Opposition will come your way~ But the hotter the battle you see~ IT’S THE SWEETER THE VICTORY…

“A Warm Place”

I looked through the window at 7:55AM and it looked dark and gloomy. I looked out at 8:05AM and it is snowing heavily*******************************************
Mercy for all the people who spend their nights and days outside in this kind of weather. Mercy for all the people who don’t have a warm coat~ A good pair of shoes~ A hot drink and meal.
MERCY LORD****** MERCY******

Monday, December 9, 2013

My daughter just phoned me to say she was heading to school.
“Did you eat anything?” I asked.
“I bought something,” She said.
“McDonalds?” I asked.
“No. You forget I am not buying from them. Not until they pay and treat their workers better.”
“I am so proud of you,” I said.
Chuckle was her answer to that.

The Married Man/Married Woman Relationship

Ok so we are in December did he/she divorce his/her wife/husband yet? What is the excuse?

“Can’t Save A Dime”

I am pissed! I just saw a commercial where a bank CEO, wishing us Merry Christmas. What the Fuck!
How the ass you want to say Merry Christmas to me and then charge me $18 bucks, if I don’t use my bankcard 5 times every month. Making sure I don’t save a dime. Just leave Christ out of this…

“A Beautiful Monday”

Does anybody really think that they didn't get what they had because they didn't have the talent or the strength or the endurance or the commitment? — Nelson Mandela (1918-2013)

From me to you on this cold~ raining~ snowing Monday I wish you warmth~ tenderness and kindness…

“Wishing For Kindness” Part 9

The sun blazed down so the days were hot. If you were in a shaded area, the breeze helped with the humidity. At nights the house was hot so the windows were left open until the temperature went down. Lisa did not like the windows open because bugs would sometime come in. Most nights, she was afraid to sleep. She would lie quietly on her bed hoping her sister would fall asleep so she could close the window. One night she closed it, her sister woke up and was angry. As she proceeded to open the window she said, “Don’t ever close the window until I say it is okay to do so!”
One morning when Lisa woke up she felt a slight pain in one of her breasts. She looked to see why she was in pain. There was a red, swollen lump the size of a quarter on her breast. The first thing she thought was that she was bitten by a bug so she took off her nightie and checked. She did not see any bugs so she checked on her bed, but found nothing. Although she did not see any bugs she still felt that she was bitten by one.
Fear was setting into her heart and she wondered if she should tell her mother, but she did not. She showered, dressed, had breakfast then went to school. During class the lump was hurting and she suddenly felt a sharp pain. “Ouch,” She said.
Although she thought that no one heard, her friend —Susan, who was sitting in front of her whispered, “Lisa, are you okay?”
“No. I will tell you at recess.”
At recess when she and Susan went outside she told her.
“What! Why did you come to school? Your mother have to take you to the doctor.”
“I think it was a bug that bit me, so I did not tell her.”
“When you go home for lunch, tell her.” Susan said.
“Okay.”
Lisa told her mother when she arrived home.
“When did you notice this?” Joanne asked.
“This morning,” Lisa said.
“Tell you father when he gets home from work. Eat your lunch and go back to school.”
“Okay.”
“Did you show your mother the lump?” Susan asked as they walked back to school.
I told her about it, she said to tell my father, eat my lunch and go back to school. She did not ask me to see it.”
“That is not right. Every time you tell me about your mother and the way she treats you, I feel that she is jealous of you.”
“Jealous! Mothers don’t jealous their daughters.”
“Yes they do! I could tell you stories, but this moment is about you and the lump. I told my mother and she said that a lump in the breast is not something to take lightly.” Lisa knew Susan was right and she became teary. “Oh Lisa, I’m sorry. I did not mean to make you cry.”
“It’s not you. I am scared~ I feel so alone~ I wish for a~ a bit of kindness~ from~ from my mother. Just a little reassurance~  that everything will be alright.” They stood on the road for a little while then continued on the way to school.
Lisa was anxious for school to over, but the time went slowly. When she arrived home from school she anxiously waited on her father, but soon fell asleep. He came in from work and found her sleeping on her bed.
“Lisa?” Michael whispered hitting her gently on her foot.
“Yes daddy,” She said.
“Your mother told me you have a lump on one of your breasts?”
“Yes.”
“Do you mind if I take a look at it?”
“No.” Lisa showed him the lump.
“Do you mind if I touch it?”
“No.”
Michael gently touched it and Lisa made a little face as though she felt pain so he knew it was sensitive to the touch. He looked at his watch. “Get dressed. I am going to take you to the doctor.”
Lisa was scared, as she showered and dressed. They arrived at the doctor and after examination he said that it was a cyst. He gave her medication and she had to see him in ten days. When they arrived home her mother did not ask her anything.
Michael made sure Lisa took the medication and he enquired how she was doing daily. The second visit to the doctor the cyst had melted and she was healed.

Two giraffes at the Emperor Valley Zoo Trinidad and Tobago

Nelson Mandela 1918-2013

“The sun will rise tomorrow, and the next day and the next. It may not appear as bright as yesterday, but life will carry on. To suggest that South Africa might go up in flames – as some have predicted – is to discredit South Africans and Madiba’s legacy,” Bishop Desmond Tutu said, using Nelson Mandela’s clan name —Madiba, a term of affection and respect.

“Quotes By The Greatest Leader”

We can't afford to be killing one another. — Nelson Mandela (1918-2013)

Let there be work, bread, water and salt for all. — Nelson Mandela (1918-2013)

Courageous people do not fear forgiving, for the sake of peace. — Nelson Mandela (1918-2013)

If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart. — Nelson Mandela (1918-2013)

It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership. — Nelson Mandela (1918-2013)

I was not a messiah, but an ordinary man who had become a leader because of extraordinary circumstances. — Nelson Mandela (1918-2013)

I detest racialism, because I regard it as a barbaric thing, whether it comes from a black man or a white man. — Nelson Mandela (1918-2013)

There is no easy walk to freedom anywhere, and many of us will have to pass through the valley of the shadow of death again and again before we reach the mountaintop of our desires. — Nelson Mandela (1918-2013)

I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear. — Nelson Mandela (1918-2013)

For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others. — Nelson Mandela (1918-2013)

Speech at treason trial, April 30, 1964

During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to the struggle of the African people. I have fought against whites domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But my Lord if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die. — Nelson Mandela (1918-2013)

Mandela 1994 Auto Biography — A Long Walk To Freedom

No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be thought to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite. — Nelson Mandela (1918-2013)

April 27, 1994, South Africans trooped to the polls to elect the government which was led by NELSON MANDELA, in South Africa’s first democratic elections.

“To Make It Last”

Have a good sense of humor~
Listen to each other~
Know when to shut up~
Ignore the unfounded information~
Be there in the moment of sickness~
Love each other real good~

“I love CHILDREN!”

We were all children first and I know what I have been through. Good or bad I decided that I would do the right thing by my children and other children. I love children and I do not like to see them hurt. When I hear/see on the news the atrocities done to children daily, I wish that the community is given the opportunity to decide on the punishment for child abusers.
Mercy for all the children in the world.
I know what I am faced with on this beautiful Thursday, but I don’t know what you are faced with.
I hope today is a safe productive day filled with kindness, love, tenderness and peace for you and yours.

“Quotes To Think About”

Although the life of a person is in a land full of thorns and weeds, there is always a space in which the good seed can grow. You have to trust God. — Pope Francis I

Grace is not part of consciousness; it is the amount of light in our souls, not knowledge nor reason. — Pope Francis I

Sometimes negative news does come out, but it is often exaggerated and manipulated to spread scandal. — Pope Francis I

“Home A Safe Haven”

My husband and I used to have great conversations with our children at an early age. When they were 2 years old we let them know that they could tell us anything and we meant anything. Today that is still the case between us, our 23 and 16 year old.
One conversation was about our home and that they are supposed to feel comfortable in it.
Our friends are not their friends. Be polite to them, but you do not have to be friends with them.
If anyone came to visit … The person could be uncle, aunt, cousin, friend, etc.,  and they make them uncomfortable, let us know.
Always remember that this is your home and you are not supposed to feel uncomfortable in it.
Family and friends visited us and I thank God that we were never faced with any uncomfortable situations.
Please have conversations with your children about your home and how much of a safe haven it is supposed to be for them.
A peaceful, comfortable, safe day to you and yours…

“A House”

That is the dream of most of us, but, ‘Everybody is not suppose to own a house!’ Some people could afford one. Some people cannot. You might spend your days putting all your energy into buying one. Day in and day out. No end in sight to the accomplishment of that dream…. The feeling of calm satisfaction is not in your heart and time is going by and you are not enjoying life. I say do not spend your days ignoring what is right in front of you~ Live and enjoy life with what you have~
A blessed safe day to you and yours…

Romans 13:13 Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy~

“Another Man/Woman’s Child”

Few men loves and accepts another man’s child.
Few women loves and accepts another woman’s child.
I have seen and lived the GOOD~ the BAD and the UGLY of this.
Men and women make sure you test the waters thoroughly before you put your children in the mix of your life with the so called stepmother, stepfather…

“Like A Summer Day”

The sun is shining brightly with a dusting of clouds in the sky. Outside looks like a summer day, but it’s 39ºF. On this beautiful cold Sunday~ the first day of December, 2013, I wish you Love, Peace, Kindness and Joy~

“BLACK FRIDAY DRAMA”

1. A Las Vegas shopper was shot on Thanksgiving Day as he tried to take his television home.
2. Three people got into a brawl in Wal-Mart, Rialto Calif, because shoppers were cutting the line. Two were taking into custody/
3. A WalMart in White Plains, NY calls of bomb on the premises caused the store to evacuate. No explosive device found.
4. A woman used a stun gun on another after a brawl outside Franklin Mills Mall in Northeast Philadelphia.
5. A shopper was charged in New Jersey with aggravated assault after an argument over a television.
6. Bullets fly in Illinois
7. One man’s arm was sliced to the bone during a fight over a parking space at a Walmart store in Virginia. Police seized a rifle at the scene. Both men were arrested.
8. Police shot a man believed to be involved in a shoplifting scheme at a Kohl’s in Illinois.
9. A mob of people pushing each other over a flat screen TVs in a North Carolina Walmart.
And I can go on and on about the excitement these people have to spend their money…

“ORANGE-LEMON POUND CAKE”… This Orange-Lemon Pound Cake is SCRUMPTIOUS!

One of my favorite Christmas and also Thanksgiving desserts… The first day I saw this recipe, I thought that it was not a good recipe for a cake. I made the cake and my family said that it was the best cake they ever ate. After I tasted it, I said this Orange-Lemon Pound Cake is SCRUMPTIOUS!

INGREDIENTS, Makes a 10-inch cake
3 Cups all-purpose flour
2 Cups granulated sugar
1 Tsp. salt
1 Tsp. baking powder
½ Tsp. baking soda
1 Cup sour cream
1 Cup butter or margarine, room temperature
1 Tsp. vanilla
2 Tsp. grated orange peel
5 Eggs

3. Butter and flour a 10-inch pan.  Pour cake batter into pan.

“Foolish People On The News”

I sometimes wonder if people do now know that there are camera’s everywhere or they are just foolish people. This young man, looked up at a camera (He probably felt that it was not working.) then he dropped a banana peel on the ground. As the train stopped and the doors open, he stepped on the peel, skates and fell on the floor inside the train. He sued the subway and won $15,000, but then the video of the incident surfaced so now he is being charged with fraud…

“THE KNOCKOUT GAME”

A 72 year old woman in East New York, Brooklyn is the latest victim of the ‘KNOCKOUT GAME’.
If I say that I am not afraid I am not being truthful. There are many scenarios on my mind about the KNOCKOUT GAME.
1. Unaware that the young or adult male walking towards me would punch me.
2. Thinking that the young or adult male walking towards me is a KNOCKOUT GAMER.
The latter is how I am going to judge every young or adult male who is walking towards me because I am going to be on my Ps and Qs. If you are a KNOCKOUT GAMER, you are not going to flaw my ass without a fight.
3. I worry about my daughter and her classmates. It is night time when they come home from school.
4. I worry about my husband and son. Many innocent males would be judge as being KNOCKOUT GAMERS, and this could cause dreadful results.
I don’t know who came up with this game, but, “THE DEVIL IS UPON US! WHAT THE … JESUS!

A storm is coming. The weather man said rain for us, but snow for some areas. It is very cold so only God knows what will really fall out of the sky. For all those who are driving, be very careful and remember, NO DRINKING AND DRIVING AND ROAD RAGE~ Enjoy and be safe~

“Happy Tuesday”

I am still getting set for Thanksgiving. My Favorite Cookies~ This recipe was given to me by a dear friend –Ann ~ She would have been 94. This is our second year of not getting a phone call from her. I miss that. She was a beautiful soul.  These are my Thanksgiving Cookies. They are guaranteed to make a hit with your family and guests… Enjoy.

Paste on cookies then put on sprinkles.

“Tonka Bean –Vanilla”

For my favorite cookies, I use home made vanilla. Tonka Bean – Vanilla… Did you know that if you grate Tonka beans, put it in Vodka… leave it to marinate or as Trinbagonians say, soak, for three weeks, to a month, it makes the best flavored vanilla?

“A Beautiful Morning”

Sun~ Covered by clouds.
Rain~ On the way.
Love~ It burns inside.
Hope~ I hope you feel it too.
Oh what a beautiful morning...

“They Call It A Game”

The latest trend~ ‘KNOCKOUT GAME’: Teens are attacking innocent people just for fun. It does not matter the age of the victim they would walk up to him/her — adult/child and punch you, knocking you down/out. This is going on in San Diego, St. Louis, Chicago, Syracuse, NY… Another horrible situation to be aware of. Be careful when you go out. The devil is on the move…

“Happy Monday”

You are reading this so you were blessed with another day. Thank you God for everything. I don’t know what you are doing, but I am getting set for Thanksgiving. A blessed safe day to you and yours.

“My Sweetbread”
I am not one to follow the rules of any recipe. I always add or take out something. Regular vanilla is good, but I use Tonka Bean vanilla and My Sweetbread looks and tastes delightful!
INGREDIENTS:
3 Cups Flour
1 Cups granulated sugar … I am using brown sugar.
3 Tsp. baking powder
¾ Cup water
1/2 Cup margarine, room temperature
1½  Tsp. vanilla essence
1 Egg
½ Cup mixed peel (I put in my magic bullet to make the pieces smaller because I don’t like the size of the mix peel.
1 Cup raisins
1 Coconut
1 Tsp Angostura bitters
1 Cup cherries (Everyone tells me it is ½ cup, but I love cherries in my sweetbread)
¼ Cup Brown Sugar to sprinkle on top of sweetbread.
My Preparation:
1. Cut each cherry into four pieces.
2. Chop mixed peel into smaller pieces.
3. Grate coconut then add sugar, water and mix with a wooden spoon.

Add margarine, mix thoroughly.
5. Sift flour and baking powder then mix into the coconut mixture.
6. Add fruits and mixed peel.

“Happy Sunday”

“Happy Sunday”
To you and yours, I wish you a happy, peaceful Sunday. Today I am going to season my meat for Thanksgiving. #1 on the list is the turkey.

“Marinate/Soak Turkey”
This is how I prepare my turkey for roasting/frying.
1. I submerge my turkey in a bucket filled with water that has; 2 cups of lime/lemon juice, ½ cup vinegar and 1 cup salt. Cover the bucket and leave it to marinate/soak for 3 to 4 hours.
2. While the turkey is marinating/soaking get your seasoning ready. This is the seasoning I use. I blend in vinegar/lime/lemon juice, onion, cilantro, scallions, ginger and lots of garlic.
3. Take turkey out of the bucket, put into a bowl, in the kitchen sink and wash outside and inside of the turkey… plucking out the feathers that I find.
4. I put the turkey in a baking pan then I seasoned with the blended mixture, adding salt and black pepper. Leave it to marinate/soak until I am ready to roast. The longer it marinate/soak the more scrumptious it tastes…

Every man has a right to a Saturday night bath. ― Lyndon B. Johnson (1908-1973)

The guns and the bombs, the rockets and the warships, are all symbols of human failure. Lyndon B. Johnson (1908-1973)

If future generations are to remember us more with gratitude than sorrow, we must achieve more than just the miracles of technology. We must also leave them a glimpse of the world as it was created, not just as it looked when we got through with it. Lyndon B. Johnson (1908-1973)

What convinces is conviction. Believe in the argument you're advancing. If you don't you're as good as dead. The other person will sense that something isn't there, and no chain of reasoning, no matter how logical or elegant or brilliant, will win your case for you. Lyndon B. Johnson (1908-1973)
