“Burn That Bridge”

She remembered the great conversations she had with her dad. Any time he told her to mix him a drink and one for herself, she knew that he wanted to talk. One day over drinks, he said, “If you decide to walk away from any situation, walk with dignity. Don’t start talking about how much you invested in it and who did what… When you turn that last page, close the book. There are some books that need to remain closed. She looked at him, thinking that she had to defend herself, but he continued as though he read her mind. “I know you want to defend yourself. Let it go. You will have peace of mind. Remember that there are times you have to burn that bridge down.”
