Trinbagonians talk. (88) Be Persistent. Don’t give up.

One day ah did hear a pastor say dat when yuh pray an’ yuh ask for a blessin’ let it go. Yuh doh hav’ to keep prayin’ about de same t’ing over an’ over. Ah doh agree wit wah he say. Yuh should read yuh Bible an’ doh depend on yuh pastor to sermonize it for yuh. Read one chapter a day, startin’ from Genesis. Remember to, “Doh give up.”

One day I did hear a pastor say that when you pray and you ask for a blessing let it go. You do not have to keep praying about the same thing over and over. I don’t agree with what he said. You should read your Bible and do not depend on your pastor to sermonize it for you.  Read one chapter a day, starting from Genesis. “Remember to be persistent!”

Luke 18:1-8. The Parable of the Persistent Widow. And Jesus told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’” And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you; he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”
