As a child I used to be
scared when I was in a car and it was driving along Mosquito Creek in
San-Fernando, Trinbago and Tobago , especially when a cremation was taking place. One
day when I was about 19, I was in a taxi heading to Point Fortin, a cremation
was happening. It was very windy. The fire was blowing wildly and it was huge.
The moment I saw the blaze, I looked away but the other people in the taxi was
looking and talking excitedly. They were saying that they were seeing the outline
of the body. This enticed the taxi driver to slow down so they could get a
better view. It felt really eerie to hear the comment. I was in Trinbago in,
2011 and Mosquito Creek still had a daunting effect on me.
