It is my feeling that Time ripens all things; with Time all things are revealed; Time is the father of truth. ― Francois Rabelais, (1483-1553)

Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened.  ― Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965)

I never did give anybody hell. I just told the truth and they thought it was hell.Harry S. Truman (1884-1972)

A liar begins with making falsehood appear like truth, and ends with making truth itself appear like falsehood. William Shenstone (1714-1763)

In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves. Buddha

“The Truth”
Don’t be afraid of the truth.
It speaks to you.
Don’t doubt it.
Listen to it.
Hear it.
Embrace it.
Now handle it.

“The Huge Pot Of Beef Pelau”
He bet on a horse and during the race, the horse fell and broke a leg. The owner put the animal to sleep, had the meat cut up and piece were distributed to all the people who bet on it. When he got home he wondered what he would do with all this horse meat. He cut it in cubes, washed it with lime juice, seasoned it and then put it in the freezer. A week later a friend of his was having a bus ride so he told him that he would bring a pot of pelau. Very early the morning of the bus ride, he got up and cooked a huge pot of pelau. There was more meat in it than the peas and rice … It smelt delicious.
Everyone was talking about it so the moment they arrived at their destination he served it.
A woman said to him, “It’s a man like you I want to put in house. Boy you could cook ah pelau. This beef pelau is real tasty.”
“Yes it is,” said another then another.
Compliments were coming at him from everyone who ate. People even asked for seconds and he gave them without a complaint until one person said, “Where did you buy this beef? It is real nice lean meat.”
“Boy that is not beef nah. That is horse meat,” He said.
Silence. You could hear ah pin drop. Everybody was looking at him shocked…

“A Trinbago Moment”
I remember we used to have small bundle of dried roots tied together in the drawers with our clothes and bundles hanging in the wardrobe. It made the clothes smell fragrant and it kept insect away… Oh how I long for a bundle of Vetivert — As we say in Trinbago Veh-tee-veh.

I was born with an enormous need for affection, and a terrible need to give it.Audrey Hepburn, (1929-1993)

Love is always bestowed as a gift - freely, willingly and without expectation. We don't love to be loved; we love to love. ― Leo Buscaglia (1924-1998)

A part of kindness consists in loving people more than they deserve.Joseph Joubert (1754-1824)

Immature love says: 'I love you because I need you.' Mature love says 'I need you because I love you.' Erich Fromm (1900-1980)

A flower cannot blossom without sunshine, and man cannot live without love.Max Muller (1823-1900)

Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do... but how much love we put in that action. ― Mother Teresa (1910-1997)

So many hearts don’t know the true meaning of love…

“Not everybody you meet in life is as crooked as you.

“Law Abiding Citizens Living In Fear”
I grew up in the 70s (ages 10-19) and through the eyes of a scared child, the flying squad were our saviors. When that robbery went down in Hilo — Point Fortin it was shocking and scary because Point Fortin was one of the safest places in Trinidad and Tobago. When you had a death it was from old age, drowning or a car accident. (Drowning and car accidents were few.) There were no murders. Last year at this time of the year —February there were 60 murders… At this hour 5:00AM 73 murders. I am wondering what today by midday would bring to the innocent law abiding citizens. Life in Trinidad is worst and I believe drastic measures have to be taken as soon as possible. People need to stop living in fear.

“A Softer Note”
Listening too and reading the news about Trinidad and Tobago is heartrending. I honestly took living in Trinidad for granted. I remember when I was a teenager my parents and 3 siblings were on holiday abroad … leaving me home alone. One of my brothers and his family was living about three short blocks from our parents' home, another brother was living 30 minutes away and another one was living in Port-of-Spain, 30 years ago that would have been three hours away. I was very comfortable being home alone. Sleeping at nights with windows and doors open. That is how safe Trinidad and Tobago was— A simple life. Today a different story. Oh how I took life for granted…

“Mercy For Trinidad and Tobago
I say bring back the flying squad... Trinbagonians would know this squad that was led by The  Commissioner of Police Randolph Burrows … Retired Police Inspector Mervyn Cordner. All them old people who claim to be Trinbagonians and saying that they don’t know about Mervyn Cordner … hmm, them need to prove they are born Trinbagonians. Growing up in the 70s you would know about the Flying Squad. Crime was  down. This squad used to shoot first and then ask questions later… All them criminals were scared and hiding, but would soon be dead. We are in the second month of the year and I am hearing about the daily murders… It is time to bring back the for Flying Squad… Living in Trinidad would be like the 80s…. Love would be floating in the air…  Mercy for Trinidad and Tobago

“Two Of The 10 Pleasures Of My Life”
Surprise~ The heavenly look on my children’s faces when they get a gift and then they say, “I only told you one day that I wanted this, and that was a long time. You remembered. Thanks you are the best.”
Sleeping~ Dreaming something that makes me feel joyous when I wake-up.

There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, "Thy will be done," and those to whom God says, "All right, then, have it your way."C. S. Lewis (1898-1963)

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated failures. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.Calvin Coolidge (1872-1933)

There is little difference in people, but that little difference makes a big difference. The little difference is attitude. The big difference is whether it is positive or negative.W. Clement Stone (1902-2002)

It is wonderful how much time good people spend fighting the devil. If they would only expend the same amount of energy loving their fellow men, the devil would die in his own tracks of ennui. Helen Keller (1880-1968)

I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it's the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It's probably the most important thing in a person.Audrey Hepburn, (1929-1993)

History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people. ― Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968)

 “People” Barbara Streisand
I am not a song bird, would not make a dime from my voice, but I could pull ah note in the shower… No one complained in my family so it was sweet. This was my song this morning…

“Gun Firearm Pistol Revolver Handgun Cannon Rifle Shooter”
Any weapon, from a small handheld pistol to a large piece of artillery, that has a metal tube through which bullets or missiles are fired by an explosive charge. Nice gentle meaning but I believe the meaning should be, A WEAPON TO KILL PEOPLE, ANIMALS AND THINGS —It should also say that is the reason why guns were invented.
So many people out there with guns… Some people sincerely need a gun for protection but Dear God protect us from the LUNATIC who has a gun…

“Two Of The 10 Pleasures Of My Life”
Exercising~ Jumping rope, riding my bicycle and yoga.
Walking~ Asking my husband to go out for a walk on a bitterly cold snowing night and he says, “Let’s go and we do.”

Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant. ― Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894)

Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth, faithfulness the best relationship. Buddha

The glow of one warm thought is to me worth more than money. ― Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826)

Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree. ― Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968)

Every moment and every event of every man's life on earth plants something in his soul. Thomas Merton (1915-1968)

I believe in pink. I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot. I believe in being strong when everything seems to be going wrong. I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day and I believe in miracles. Audrey Hepburn, (1929-1993)

“Two Of The 10 Pleasures Of My Life”
Writing~ After someone reads what I’ve written and then asked, “Is this true… is it about you?”
Swimming~ Going to Clifton Hill beach in Point Fortin, Trinidad to see the sun set then take a swim under the moon and stars.

The great danger for family life, in the midst of any society whose idols are pleasure, comfort and independence, lies in the fact that people close their hearts and become selfish. ― Pope John Paul II (1920-2005)

Pleasure and action make the hours seem short. ― William Shakespeare (1564-1616)

Never permit a dichotomy to rule your life, a dichotomy in which you hate what you do so you can have pleasure in your spare time. Look for a situation in which your work will give you as much happiness as your spare time. Pablo Picasso (1881-1973)

If it's very painful for you to criticize your friends – you're safe in doing it. But if you take the slightest pleasure in it, that's the time to hold your tongue. Alice Duer Miller (1874-1942)
Life is essentially a cheat and its conditions are those of defeat; the redeeming things are not happiness and pleasure but the deeper satisfactions that come out of struggle. F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896-1940)

I love the old folks… I think when they see me my face probably say to them, you could talk to her... They always have an interesting fun thing to say…. Always leave me laughing…
“Private Caller”
One day, I was sitting next to an elderly woman. Her cell phone started ringing~ She rummage through her handbag, found it, looked at it then she bent close to me and whispered, “My phone says, ‘Private Caller’, Do you know who is calling?”
Smiling at her, I whispered, “I don’t know.”
“How silly~ I am sorry honey. You wouldn’t know who it is because there is no phone number and you don’t know me,” she said and chuckled with a pleasant smile.
I smiled and then I said, “The person who called doesn’t want you to know their phone number.”
“Oh! So it is okay for them to know my number~ Don’t you think that is rude.”
“It is rude,” I said.
“The next time I get a call from them, they would get a good speech from me… hmm,” she said~ bent closer to me with a sneaky smile on her lips then whispered, “You know what a good speech is~ right?”

Now, what is it which makes a scene interesting? If you see a man coming through a doorway, it means nothing. If you see him coming through a window - that is at once interesting.Billy Wilder (1906-2002)

Trust your own instinct. Your mistakes might as well be your own, instead of someone else's.Billy Wilder (1906-2002)

Dishonesty is so grasping it would deceive God himself, were it possible.George Bancroft (1800-1891)

I have known a vast quantity of nonsense talked about bad men not looking you in the face. Don't trust that conventional idea. Dishonesty will stare honesty out of countenance any day in the week, if there is anything to be got by it. ― Charles Dickens, (1812-1870)

“Learn To Appreciate”
A friend invited me and two other friends —Dian and Joanne, to lunch. Joanne and I went … Dian couldn’t make it. The ambiance was very nice and lunch was delicious, but we had to sit and listen to Loraine gripe about Dian’s absence. She kept complaining, and I was getting upset. I rolled my eyes at Joanne. She gently kicked my foot and shook her head… for me to be quiet. I pouted my lips and opened my eyes wide then I smiled. We were doing all these antics, but Loraine did not see us because she was caught-up in her self-interest. I was enjoying the clowning around, but I knew if the gripe didn’t stop I was going to flip and I did. “Listen to me. You invited us to lunch, and Dian could not make it … Joanne and I did. Why can’t you be thankful that we came to grace you with our presence? You are insulting, selfish and disrespectful. Learn to appreciate who and what is in front of you.”

When I was a child I found this prayer to be scary
Now I lay me down to sleep,~ I pray the Lord my soul to keep.~ If I die before I wake,~ I pray the Lord my soul to take.
Now I wake to see the light,~ Tis God has kept me through the night.~ And now I lift my voice to pray~ That He will keep me through the day.
