“One Spring Day”
Yesterday was like a spring day… just beautiful. The temperature was a nice 60ºF … 4:30AM, today was cloudy, raining heavily, thunder, lightening and high winds. The temperature 59ºF, the sun came out, beautiful white clouds in the blue sky… Now it is 43ºF, the temperature is going down, down, down and it’s going to get windy. The big chill is back — WINTER!

Tenderness and kindness are not signs of weakness and despair but manifestations of strength and resolution. — Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931)

The belief that youth is the happiest time of life is founded on a fallacy. The happiest person is the person who thinks the most interesting thoughts, and we grow happier as we grow older.  — William Lyon Phelps (1865-1943)

Do you know what it means to come home at night to a woman who'll give you a little love, a little affection, a little tenderness? It means you're in the wrong house, that's what it means.Henny Youngman (1906-1998)

“She Stumbled In”
Linda knew what curiosity did to the cat, but she decided that she was going to take the chance and snoop. She thought her boss was having an affair with a beautiful young woman. All the men in the office drooled over her. She would walk into the office, stately dressed, politely ask for him then she would sit patiently waiting. The moment he was free he would come out, greet her, with a happy smile on his face. They would hug each other tightly then he would say, “Come let’s go into my office.” He would close the door behind them. At times you would hear loud laughter then they would be quiet. Linda had planned that she was going to listen at the door, the next time she came to the office. Many months later the beautiful young woman came to the office. As usual she and the boss hugged, then they went to his office and he closed the door. Linda went quietly to the door and she put one ear against it.
“No daddy. You need to make sure that it is done the right way.”
‘Oh so she calls him daddy … hmm’, Linda was thinking.
“I’ve know your mother a long time and she would not agree to it.”
“Daddy she agreed.”
Their voices faded so Linda leaned against the door. It slowly started to open, but she did not realize it until it opened wider and she stumbled in — just in time to hear the beautiful young woman say, “Daddy, let’s get mom on Skype so she can show you what she wants.”
The boss and the beautiful woman were sitting at his desk looking at Linda with surprised looks on their faces...

“TODAY IS WEDNESDAY… I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO THURSDAY” Women look their oldest at 3.30 pm on WEDNESDAYS: Study London: Work stress and toll from weekend partying means women look their oldest at exactly 3.30 PM ON WEDNESDAYS, according to a new UK study. WEDNESDAY is the day when energy levels plummet, work stress is at a peak and the effects of any weekend late nights finally kick in. The research found one in ten women (12 per cent) find WEDNESDAY the most stressful day in a typical week. But THURSDAY is the day they are most likely to romance which could contribute to why women feel so happy on a FRIDAY - 60 per cent name it as their happiest day, the 'Daily Mail' reported. A quarter of women feel stressed several times a week - while one in five (19 per cent) admit they will work through Wednesday's lunch hour. The Forest Is Our Home—The Sequel To Jan’s Mysterious Adventure— by A Valentine Joseph
When Terrance was thirteen, Jim took him miles through the forest very early one morning. Before they left home, Jim instructed him to put on his clothes inside out and to pay close attention to what he did. If they came upon anyone, do not look at them or say anything. Terrance walked behind Jim in the pitch dark forest. They walked for miles, when Jim suddenly stopped and he bumped into him. Jim put out his hand blocking him from moving any further. “Bonjour, Père de la forêt,” Jim said.
In a loud thunderous voice, Papa Bois said, “What is the reason for you being in my forest.” Terrance closed his eyes and he kept his head down … the hairs on the back of his neck stood up, and he was terrified.
While Jim was answering his question, Papa Bois came and stood near to Terrance. His breathing was like that of an irritated animal, and he smelled like the forest. The green smell of the bushes was pungent, and Terrance felt faint…

The Forest Is Our Home—The Sequel To Jan’s Mysterious Adventure— by A Valentine Joseph
This story is about a what-if moment I had when I visited the Asa Wright Nature Centre in the Arima Valley of the Northern Range in Trinidad and Tobago in the West Indies. I made this visit to Asa Wright with the members of a youth group I belonged to. My what-if moment took place when we arrived at the center. The first thing I noticed, were the trees and the sweet singing of the birds. I love trees and birds, so the area was recipe for my imagination. Some of us decided to go bird watching without a guide. That was a big mistake because we got lost deep in the forest. We tried to find our way back, and we ended up on a cliff. The cliff was slippery, and one person started to slip at a terrific speed toward the edge. Everyone started screaming and shouting, horror-struck, hoping that he would stop—which, at the bare edge, he did. We formed a human chain and helped him back onto dry ground. Everyone was talking about what would have happened if he had fallen over the edge of the cliff.
I was thinking, what if people were living deep in this forest? Would they be happy to live in the heart of nature? And I decided to write a story.

Sandy by A Valentine Joseph
Sandy was looking at him but she could not move because of the intense pain she was feeling. She closed her eyes.
“Do you still want that divorce?”
She did not answer him.
Sandy! Wake up! He kicked her and she cried out.
“Barry, stop it!”
“Answer me bitch!” He kicked her.
“Barry, please stop.”
“Do you want a divorce?” He asked as he got down over her and grabbed the hand that was bruised. He started to squeeze it.
“Ouch! No, no! I don’t…. want a divorce!”
“Good. You are my wife and you will remain my wife. If you ever asked me for a divorce again, I’ll kill you! Do you hear me?”
“Yes.”
Sandy lay on the floor groaning in pain. For a moment everything was a blur and she did not know where she was. She looked around the room. Barry was sitting on the couch drinking from a bottle. She closed her eyes and prayed that the pain she was feeling would subside. She felt like falling asleep and hoping that when she woke up all that happened to her was a dream. She thought about Christopher and opened her eyes. Barry was bending over her. She tried to cower away.
“Do you see what you made me do?” he asked, looking at her in disgust.
She did not answer him but was silently praying for him to leave. Her cheeks were wet and she thought it was her tears but when she wiped it, she saw it was blood. She had been cut on her face. After a while she dragged herself toward the couch and held onto the arm of it. She was in excruciating pain but knew she had to stand up. Eventually she did so, walking slowly to the dining table where she opened Christopher’s bag.
He pointed the gun at her shouting. “If you try anything I will shoot you.” She did not say anything to him but kept looking in his direction, as she took a washrag from the baby bag. She placed it on the cut, applying pressure and hoping that it would stop the bleeding.
“Do you remember when you nearly ripped off my ears? This time I will kill you!” His shouting woke Christopher, who started screaming. Barry turned in the direction of Christopher’s voice. Sandy moved as fast as she could and stood in front of him.
“Please Barry. Not my baby, please.” He grabbed her hand. “Ouch Barry…. my hand!” she cried out but he did not let go instead, he pulled her towards Christopher’s room. “Barry, I’m begging you. Don’t hurt my son. Please don’t.” He did not answer her. He pushed her and she stumbled into the room

A Near Fatal twist by A Valentine Joseph
Keri stood under the shower for a while, thinking about Darnel … and she whispered, “Oh God, I love him and I always will.”
The ringing of the doorbell made her jump. She stepped out of the tub and put on her robe. It was after eleven in the night, and she hoped it was not Jeremy.
“Who is it?” Keri asked at the door.
“Darnel.”
Her heart started beating rapidly, and she could feel it in her throat. To Keri it was a major coincidence because she was just thinking heavily of him, and there he was standing outside her door.
“What do you want, Darnel?”
“Please, K, let me in. I just want to talk to you.”
She opened the door and he walked in. He looked at her, and she looked nervously at him, pulling her robe closer because her body started to tingle.
“Have a seat. I will be right back.” Keri walked quickly into the bedroom, taking a dress and underwear from the bureau drawer. She took off her robe and was about to put on the dress, when she suddenly felt his presence behind her. She turned around to find Darnel standing in the doorway.

 “It Is Scary”
I have a son… A black male and it is scary to think about what each day will bring into his life… At a very young age, I told my son, and it was sad to say, but it was the truth… You have strikes against you…
1. You are a black.
2. You are a male.
3. You don’t have an education…
You cannot change yourself, but you can make changes to your educational status. Go to school and get a good education…
When you go to the store, the workers in the store may shadow you… ignore them… get what you want, pay for it, make sure you get a bag and a receipt…
If you are stopped by the police make sure they could see your hands…
Be aware of the neighborhood watch… He might be packing heat, and easily upset when he sees a black man.
At school, your professor/s and or classmate/s might be packing heat. Be careful…

“Romanticizing 132 Years Ago”
We are back in the 1800… The Gunfight at the O.K. Corral took place at about 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 1881, in Tombstone, Arizona Territory. , and is generally regarded as the most famous gunfight in the history of the American Old West. 132 yrs ago and I believe some people are romanticizing this time~ wanting it back—DAUNTING!...

“Your Word”
I know I must be sounding like a broken record, but I love to give dues when it is due~ I always have to give Jack his jacket and Jim his Jim boots so here we go again~ The old folks got it right~ My father used to say this, “Your word is your bond… When you promise to do something, do it”   In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
We wonder why our lives go haywire at times~ How many broken promises are on your list?… hmm…

“Proud To Announce The Death Of”
Tobago I am so very proud of you. You showed them.  As Kitchener said, “Not A Damn Seat For Dem.” This election reminds me of an election with PNM against DLP. PNM won in a landslide. The next day the death announcement music came on the radio, then, our late Prime Minister Dr. Eric Williams said, “I am proud to announce the death of the DLP … He started to call out the names of all the people in the DLP party. I was young, but I remember my parents and the neighbors were all laughing real hard. Tobago I know you are proud to announce the death of…

Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968)
1. In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.
2. I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.
3. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
4. Life's most urgent question is: what are you doing for others?
5. Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend.
6. Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane.
7. Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men.
8. Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.
9. Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness.
10. MY FAVORITE MLK QUOTE~ Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase. ― Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968)
“A Bunch Of Hypocrite”

Peter: But where are those good old fashion values....
All: On which we used to rely?!
Lucky there’s a family guy!

Stewie: laugh and cry!
All: He's a Fam-ily Guy!

“We Are Living In A Brand New World
Every time I stand at the bus stop, I always get a moment where I have to say in my mind~ I probably look like an easy person to talk to. Someone always say something to me.
I arrived at the bus stop and no one was there. It was strange because of the time of day it was. A few minutes later a woman came, looked at me and smiled. I smiled, turned my head in the opposite direction to see if the bus was coming, but I could feel her eyes on me. “Miss, can I say something to you?” The woman asked.
I was thinking here we go again. “Sure,” I said.
“You are a pretty woman.”
“Thank you,” I said, then continued looking for the bus.
“You always seem very upbeat as though everything is fine. I like you. Can I take you out?”
I was shocked, but I smiled and said, “I am married.”
“Does he or she treat you good?”
“Yes he does.”
“Okay, but you are a nice woman.”
It’s a brand new world and this moment at the bus stop is going to stay in my history book…

One of my favorite moments growing up in Trinidad
The Black Bull
I was walking with some friends through the savanna one day on the way to elementary school. There were cattle grazing in the savanna and since the girl’s uniforms were a dark red color, I kept looking at them. One black bull with red eyes was looking at us. I was scared, but I did not say anything, then a boy said, “I think that bull is going to charge at us.” I didn’t wait for anyone to say “run”, I started to run…
