Rough Tops are one of my favorite biscuit/cookie since I was a child. The last time I ate it was more than two years ago. When I walked into the kitchen yesterday morning, there were two packs on the kitchen counter. I ignored them for hours but in a moment of weakness… I ate some. Thank God, I did not feel sick.

Today is the 100 year anniversary of the Silent Parade. On July 28, 1917, about 10,000 people marched in silence down New York's Fifth Avenue to Madison Square protesting African-American rights in the U.S.

The demonstration was one of America's first mass protests of lynching and other anti-black violence and was led by the NAACP, including leaders James Weldon Johnson and W.E.B Du Bois.

The protesters, who carried banners with slogans reading "Thou Shalt Not Kill” and “Your Hands Are Full of Blood", were demanding then-President Woodrow Wilson take legislative action to protect the civil rights of African Americans. 

The ride that came detached at the State Park in Ohio was the topic of conversation. It was a tragic situation. Harold was saying to Paul and Sarah that they love rollercoasters and many other rides, but on their trip to Six Flags Great Adventure they did not go on any.

Paul said for the past few years there were 21 deaths caused by rides and he is not going on any.

It’s now 22 because of the ride that came detached at the Ohio State Fair, on Wednesday. One person died and 7 others injured. I am not going on no rides,” Sarah said.

When they were going to Six Flags, I was praying that they did not go on the rollercoaster rides. Thank God, they did not.

I pray for all the family who lost a member and for those who got hurt.

Now it is 183 days Trump is in office and I heard that his lawyers are look at way in which he can pardon himself and his relatives for the unlawful things they did. If he is able to do that, I must say, “Be very afraid because he is making new laws. SCARY!”

On a personal note.

We are always faced with some-kind of drama, in my neighborhood. Are we living in the days of food shortage that we must ration food? Harold went to a Dunkin’ Donuts in Brooklyn to buy 12 cinnamon raisins bagels and was told they would not sell him 12 even if they had 12. They only have 6 and he can get 2. He asked the casher if this was a new Dunkin’ Donuts practice? She went on speaking to him in a condescending way so he told her some, put in your place words then he left. The next day he went to a Dunkin’ Donuts in Manhattan, and ordered 12 cinnamon raisins bagels, and was given his purchase without a problem. 

I feel people who don’t want to get their shoes stepped on, needs to stay at home with their feet. In most cases when your shoe is stepped on, it is by accident. I see some people get in a rage because of it. I’ve been riding NY subway for more than 25 years so my shoes have been stepped on countless times but the world did not end...

Men don’t like to talk about what is really happening to them. Harold said that it is because they don’t like the derogatory feedback they get from talking about situations. I thank God, he and Paul let me know what is going on. Harold always used to talk to me, but things used to happen to Paul and I used to find out by his actions. He was being bullied in elementary school. I only found out one day by the way he was acting when he got home. I asked him what was going on and he kept saying that he was okay. The next day when I dropped him off at school, I stood where he could not see me and watch him. A boy pulling him and Paul was asking him to let him go but the boy started roughing him up. Well I fixed that shit in a flash. Pay attention to your children especially your boys. You will know if something is wrong by their actions.

How am I a crazy when I hear people making disparaging statements about us? When you are black, no skin tone can change that. I did my DNA and I am 83.7% West African, 10.7% European, 0.5% East Asian and so on and so on, but after all the mixed blood, I am black and I love it. I love me.

Harold, Paul, and Sarah went to Six Flags Great Adventure. When Harold went to buy the tickets, the Attendant looked at him, Paul and Sarah and said, “One adult, one teenager and a twelve-year-old.

Before Harold could answer Sarah said, “No I am twenty and my brother is twenty-six.”
“And you are not going to save your father a dollar today,” Harold said.

The Attendant started to laugh and then she commended Sarah for her honesty.

Yoga was a part of my exercising routine and I used to feel good. I suddenly stopped exercising and then all the aches and pains started, but I still did not start back exercising, until my doctor told me too. I started for many months and some exercises I did not do. Last week I decided to get serious and back to yoga. I must do it on my bed because even on the mat, the floor felt hard.

Reclined Hero Pose used to be one of my favorite exercise. Four days ago, I tried doing it, but the pains were excruciating. I was crying out, “Oh God give me strength.” Today I did it. Although it was painful today, I know tomorrow it will be a lot better. 

Two questions that annoys me after I paid for an item/s; Do you want a receipt? Do you want a bag for your item? Today as always, a black man/woman must be on their Ps and Qs. You need to make sure you get a receipt and a bag because you are walking, out of a store, item/s in hand, someone is going to deem you as a shop-lifter. So, when you are asked those questions say, YES! Save yourself major embarrassment.

It always amazes me how ugly people always saying someone is ugly. When they make these harsh statements, they speak with authority, and sounds self-righteous.

Every time I hear someone berating another, I just say to myself, “LORD! Pot telling kettle, ‘he, bottom black’.”

Some people really don't think before they speak. It is hurtful and sinful to be offensive. As the Bible says, “It is not what goes into the mouth of a man that defiles and dishonors him, but what comes out of the mouth, this defile and dishonors him.”

I sometimes wonder if the people who criticize others, looked at themselves in a mirror first then sit down and think about the kind of character that is imbedded in them.
