One
relative said that a friend told her that the company she works for has a
position available. The salary would be about 2 thousand dollars more than what
she is now working for. Her friend also told her if she applies for the job she
would speak to management so she wants to apply.
“Are
you happy at your job? Do you have a good relationship with your boss? There might
be someone at your job that you do not like or get along with, but are they
worth giving up your peace of mind? I know that it sounds real nice to you,
especially the part about the money, but the only person you know at the new
job is your friend. You don’t know what kind of relationships are floats around
in that company. There are instances when a friend tells you about a job and
you get it, they turn on you. They get annoyed because they believe that the boss
and colleagues treats you better than them.
When
that friend turns on you, your ass is grass. So do not leave your comfort zone
for 2 thousand dollars more, to eat the bread that the devil kneads.”
The
second family member also wanted to leave his job. I said, “Are you happy at your
job?” He said that he was to an extent. There is room for advancement, but
there are some people he doesn’t like.
“You
would not like everyone that you meet and everyone who meets you wouldn’t like you.
What else is wrong at your job?” I said.
He
is on probation and when it is over, his salary would increase, but the new job
would start him off with the amount it would increase too.
It’s
all about the money, but sometimes patience is all you need. You recently started
the job, you have no major issues and there is room for advance in position. The
company is big so you can avoid the people you do not like. Don’t be greedy. A
bird in the hand is better than two in the bush.
