“Another Day Of Salivating”
Every Thursday morning, her
mother goes grocery shopping and she would take her along. When they arrived at
the supermarket (It did not matter if it was raining), she always stood her at
the right side away from the entrance then she would say to her, “Stand right
here and wait for me.” She would stand quietly, looking at her entering the
supermarket and taking a shopping cart. A feeling of nervousness and hurt always
came over her, but she did not say anything. Many people walked by~ Some would
smile and say hello, but others had a look that say, “I hate little children.” Every
now and then, cars would drive along the main road in opposite directions. Standing
there was always boring, so her eyes usually scanned the area. It would finally
stop on the lady who was at her left side. This lady sat on a bench and in
front of her was a table with a small glass case on it. In the case was pink
and white sugar cakes, pink and white fudge, coconut fudge, toulum, coconut
drops and red and white peppermint sticks. Her mother never bought anything
from the lady, but she was hoping that this time she would. Oh, how she salivated~
The time was going slowly and she kept looking at the glass case. Her mother
finally came out of the grocery and she ignored the lady~ They went home with the groceries and no goodies from the glass case.~
This was another day of salivating,
but she was hoping that the next Thursday she would get something from the case…
