“What A Joy It Is”

I just finished complaining about winter and here I am again complaining~ This time, my complaint is about SUMMER!!!! “It is 87º and it is going up to 90º but it would feel like 97º”, the weather man said. I am not good with heat~ I just don’t like the excessive sweating~ I had to go out for a bit and the temperature was 80º~ I did soak in the heat~ The only good thing about being in it was meeting some people who gave me good words of encouragement about this life we are living~ Those words made the heat seem like another day to say, “Oh, what a joy it is to wake-up, see another day and feel uplifted…”

Memorial Day 2012

Today is Memorial Day in the United States~

Memorial Day was officially proclaimed on May 5, 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic. It was first observed on May 30, 1868, when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery. The first state to officially recognize the holiday was New York in 1873.

“Perfection Matters”

His son said that he doesn’t know what is wrong with his friend.

“Is he sick,” his father asked.

“In his mind he probably is. This dude’s parents pay all his bills, buys all his clothes, gives him spending money and they bought him a car.”

“We do the same for you.”

“Yes, but my GPA is 3.9 and his is 1.5.”

“What?! 1.5! What did his parents say?” his father asked.

“He told them that he had to meet with the college administrators to convince them not to kick him out.”

“Wow! I cannot believe this. His parents must be very upset.”

“Nah. They told him that they would stand by him, regardless of the outcome. You and mom are not so lenient with me. You are not even pleased that my GPA is 3.9…

“Not Afraid Of Anything”

PAPA BOIS… Also know as MAITRE BOIS (Master of the woods)… DADDY BOUCHON (hairy Man)…. He is the old man of the forest.

SOUCOUYANT (Soo-koo-yaan)… SUCOUYA (Soo-coo-yah)… An old frightful woman, who sheds her skin and transforms herself into a ball of fire at night; She sucks the blood of her victims. 

Very late one night, Moses listened to his two friends profess to be brave – not afraid of anything.

Nathan said that his father told him and his siblings that a friend of his was confronted by papa bois.

Isaiah said that his mother told them that a soucouyant used to terrorize the neighborhood, a friend of hers lived in. This creature did this at 3 o’clock every morning.

“3 AM is the witching hour,” Moses said.

“Isn’t it strange that our parents never saw any of these creatures, but they all knew someone who saw one? I don’t believe any of it~ Even the part about the witching hour. It is nonsense,” Nathan said.

“True! We have been out at that hour most nights and we never came across any evil creatures!” Isaiah said.

“They exist. I saw papa bois when I went hunting one night with my father,” Moses said,

“What!”

“You never told us about that!”

“No because you won’t believe me,” Moses said and he started to make slow steps backwards.

“Why are you moving backwards?” Nathan asked.

Moses did not answer. His sudden strange mood, made Nathan and Isaiah become agitated. They started to walk slowly towards him, but he kept moving.

“Moses! What’s wrong?!” Nathan shouted.

 “You won’t believe me if I told you, that papa bois is behind you,” Moses said.

The moment he said that, hands came down heavily, on Nathan and Isaiah’s shoulders…

“Rain Thunder Lightening”

It’s a wet noisy day in New York~ Bucketing Rain~ Vicious lightening~ Loud thunder.

My television is cutting off~ My radio is making lots of grating sounds~ My internet connection is only for a minute or less. If you are reading this then I was able to get connected for a moment~ Nice, but I have to log off because the lightening~~~ Hmmm!!! The thunder~~~ is on a roll….

 “It Is Not A Good Thing To Do”

I listened to a man and a woman having a conversation.

She said, “I love where I am living. It is far from all the people that I know. Yes, they can come to visit, but they know that they cannot overstay their welcome.”

He said, “I was thinking of doing the same thing~ buying a house far from all the people that I know. They can only spend a weekend~ Not a day more.”

 “You should do that,” She said and they both smiled happily.

 Many years later, he was living his dream~ Away from all the people he knew. The woman he dated was only allowed to spend some weekends with him. One day, he went up on his roof to do some repairs. He got a heart attack and died.

His telephone rang day in and day out, but he was on top of the roof~ Far from all the people that he knew…

It is not a good thing to do…

“I Love Sun Day”

Today is Sunday and the day is turning out to be true to its name… Sun Day~ The sun is shining bright~ A nice day to go to Clifton Hill beach, Point Fortin in Trinidad and Tobago~ Sit in the shade and look at the water then straight at the horizon~ The mountains you see would be Venezuela~

You start wondering, “Should I take a trip to Venezuela…?”…hmm. I think I am going to go do some shopping there~ At the moment, you keep looking at the horizon and dreaming about your trip to Venezuela~

Suddenly, the sun starts going down~~~ down~~~ slowly~~~ slowly~~~

Your eyes are glued to the scene… Puff… the sun disappears as well as the thoughts about that shopping trip to Venezuela… 

“A Tedious Moment”

“Sleep Time In Hour Intervals”

Last night was a restless one. I fell asleep and woke up on the hour every hour. My mind was flowing with all kinds of thoughts. I even dreamt of a robbery that became violent. Someone got shot and they died. I woke up and my adrenaline was on override from fear. It felt as though this horrible situation did happen, but I hoped that it was just a dream~~~~

“A Black Chicken”

It was around five thirty in the evening and I was walking home… I was so amazed to see a black chicken in front of me on the sidewalk. This chicken looked healthy, had a stately walk and to me it looked as though it was saying, “I have a right to walk freely and no one can stop me.”… hmm. I was thinking if you were walking in Trinbago, you would be in somebody’s pot of pelau, before you could blow your own horn…

Last night, we went up on the roof to look at the moon. It certainly could not be seen. During the day, a huge cloud floated over New York and it stayed. I really thought that the sky would be clear by nighttime, but noooooo~~~~ The cloud stayed all night and it blocked the moon~ Not even a star could be seen…

It is called a "Supermoon" but I am calling it a “Love Moon”.

Normally bad-mannered, but there are times I feel that I am justified in being that way.

He asked me in a vociferous tone, “Where are you coming from!?”

“When I walked in I said, ‘Good morning.’. You looked me straight in the eyes, but you did not respond. I shrugged my shoulders and walked away, but I was thinking that you are a bad-mannered man. It took me a while to find the office I wanted. Now that I am leaving, why do you want to know!?”
