African American children are the last students to get accepted into specialized schools. Out of the 895 students accepted to attend Stuyvesant High School only 7 black students are offered admission. Paul attended Philippa Schuyler Junior High School. The day when he got home from being tested to attend a Junior High school, he said that he is not going to no Specialized high School. After he scored high on NYC test, qualified to be admitted into any Specialized school, the schools he applied too still tested students for admission. You have to wait weeks before you hear from them. Although you passed the test, there is no guarantee that the school would accept you, because you are black. Parents I believe you should only agree to a specialized school, if you child wants to attend one. Yes, they treat us like shit but we are Black and Gifted.
