I thank God for opening our eyes to see the selfishness and the wickedness of man. I pray that we get strength and courage to face the days ahead. Have a nice day and be safe.

This is what the Trinbago old folks used to give us when we had colds, coughs and fever. It healed us. Christmas bush, fever grass, shandilay bush, sirrio bush and there were others, but I can’t remember them. Do you remember any? We have to go back to basic.

And I pray. Ps. 52. Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually. The tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue. God shall likewise destroy thee forever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him: Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness. But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever. I will praise thee forever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints. Amen.

If you did not know, you know now. I was born at the San Fernando General Hospital, Trinidad and Tobago. That makes me a Trinbagonian. I am not a Jamaican, Haitian, Grenada or Dominican etc. I always have to tell people that I am not from their mother country. If I look like someone from your country remember that this world is small, so they might be my relative. I pray today is a better day for you. The virus is not discriminating it can happen to anybody so we have to follow the rules.

A wonderful, safe and uninfected Monday to you and your family. God is saying something to us. Pay attention. And remember; Proverbs 18:2. “The fool takes no delight in understanding, but rather in displaying what he thinks.”

I remember we used to have trees in our yard. We had two avocado trees, a breadfruit tree, a governor plum tree, a caimite tree, chinee tambran tree and a bunch of cane. There was no grass around just dirt. I used to be in the yard ever minute of the day, with a coloring book, crayons, pencil and paper. Staying inside and watching television was never my thing. I love being outside. Today life has changed drastically. Inside is the new normal for me. All I have to say about that is, “Thanks be to God for mercy. We are seeing another day.”

We need to be patient and follow instructions but, many people are not. Some people are behaving in a selfish, nasty and disrespectful way. Proverbs 18:2 is right. “The fool takes no delight in understanding, but rather in displaying what he thinks.”

When I hear some adults talk, I wonder if they are still in elementary school. Faith trumps commonsense. We have to do our part. James 2:17. In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. Enjoy your day and be safe.

In my 59 years on this earth I have never experienced anything like what is happening today. This is my opinion of why this plague is upon the earth. Man has done and is still doing some atrocious and mind-boggling things to man. Children and women suffer the brunt of it. I remember some years ago, I saw a show about some fathers in Italy pimping their sons. One father said that he had to do it because he cannot get a job. His wife, the little boy’s mother did not know what he was doing. He also said that lots of Western men come to Italy and pay big money for young boys. I just could imagine what is happening today. Vulgarity, cruelty, brutality and sadism rules the earth. A cleansing is at hand. God is in charge.

Please note I am not a doctor so I am not telling anyone to do this. My mother and the neighbors used to talk about eating garlic or making a tea with it to help bring down their blood pressure. I never suffered from high blood pressure, but from the moment I had Sarah my blood pressure went up. I was calm but Harold looked scared and I whispered to him, “Bring me 2 cloves of garlic, a bottle of water and gum.” He said, “What!? “Don’t worry I will be fine. I know what I am doing.” The next day when he came, I peeled one of the garlic cloves and took a bite. It burned and tasted bad but I drank water to wash it down. While I was eating the garlic, Harold was talking his concerns. Complaining that Trinbagonians love to play doctor, but he hopes the garlic works. After eating the garlic, I brushed my teeth then started to chew the gum. When the doctor came, he told me he would have to put me on medication because my blood pressure was still high. The nurse came to give me the medication, but she took my pressure and it was normal.” She said, “this is weird. I will tell your doctor.” Garlic is good for many things. Roasted garlic in olive oil taste good.

When my siblings and I had a fever, my mother used to give us a coffee cup full of cinnamon tea. She made the cinnamon tea by boiling a piece of cinnamon (1 stick of cinnamon) in water and then she added brown sugar. We had to drink all the tea. She used to say we had to sweat out the infection. Minutes after we would suddenly start sweating. We had to change our clothes because the sweat used to be a lot. The changing of the clothes and the bed sheets had to be done a number of times. After the sweating, the fever was gone and we felt a lot better. What home remedy did you get for a fever?

A happy, safe and hygienic Sunday to you and your family. Ps. 61.1-5. Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in thy tabernacle forever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name. Amen. Mat. 6:9-13. Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come, Thy WILL be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give me this day my daily bread; and forgive me my trespasses as I forgive those who trespass against me; save me from falling into temptation and deliver me from evil. Amen.

When I was in Elementary School, (Trinidad and Tobago) Hygiene was practiced in school. It was also practiced in the Elementary Schools Paul and Sarah attended in Brooklyn, NY. So, what happened to Hygiene, the practice to maintain health after Elementary school? In the Elementary School I attended, our hands, clothes, desk, seat and the area around us had to be clean. We would stand, put out our hands and our teacher used to do an inspection. If your hands were dirty, you would get a lash with a ruler or whip on it. All the children with dirty hands had to go and wash their hands. I loved to play in water so my hands used to be clean, dry and wrinkly. Our teacher would say, “Some of you go to the pipe and play in the water. Stop wasting water.” Have a nice day.

Did you ever come face to face with someone you should know but you could not remember their name? It is embarrassing. One day while shopping a woman came up to me smiling. I smiled but kept browsing. She said, I know you don’t remember me?” Me: Come on. How could you say that? Although I said that my brain was asking the question what is her name. God please help me remember her name. Yes, she looked familiar but I couldn’t remember her. She was not moving away so I asked her how she was doing and we both talked about our family. After the conversation ended and she was about to walk away, I suddenly remembered her and I said, Bye Angela. It was nice seeing you again.” “You do remember me.” Me: “I do not know why you doubted that I remember you.” I smiled because I was thinking I was saved from being embarrassed.

Will you teach your children what we have taught our children? That the earth is our mother? What befalls the earth befalls all the sons of the earth. This we know: the earth does not belong to man; man belongs to the earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life; he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself. One thing we know: our God is also your God. The earth is precious to him and to harm the earth is to heap contempt on its creator. Ps.91:3-7. For he will rescue you from the snare of the fowler, from the destroying pestilence. With his pinions, he will cover you, and under his wings you shall take refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You shall not fear the terror of the night; nor the arrow that flies by day; nor the pestilence that roams in darkness; nor the devastating plague at noon. Though a thousand fall at your side, ten thousand at your right side, near you it shall not come. Enjoy your day and be safe.

More than ten boys were beating up a girl their age in Brooklyn, NY. When I saw the video of the attack, I wonder who are the parents of these young men. How dare they think that something like this is justifiable? Not one of them involved showed any remorse they were all willing participants. I am so sorry that the young lady was not able to grab one of her attackers and bite him. I pray that she gets strength and courage to face the days ahead. A wonderful safe Sunday to you and your family.

Man doesn’t think about the consequences of his greediness. In times of disaster he increases the price of basic necessities. He doesn’t think that he can become a victim. The need to become wealthier over-rides kindness.
